Salary Range: $4,472 - $6,002 Monthly

This recruitment will fill two non-permanent roles, both represented by the Teamsters 117 Bargaining Unit. The Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking committed team players to join the Disbursements team as Fiscal Analyst 1 .

The goal of this position is to ensure accurate and timely disbursement of funds to the Agencys vendors and employees. As an entry-level Fiscal Analyst, you will be responsible for maintaining procedures to ensure efficient payment processing and computerized disbursements using the DOC Accounts Payable system. The Disbursements Unit handles all non-salary expenditures including food, clothing, fuel, utilities, contracted services, and more.

Inaccurate or untimely disbursements could impact the safe and effective operation of prison facilities and community supervision, affecting public safety. As a Fiscal Analyst 1 , duties include:

  • Performing journey-level accounting duties in accordance with GAAP, OFM, and DOC policies, such as:
  • Monitoring, maintaining, and processing payment groups accurately and timely
  • Analyzing and preparing invoice vouchers and purchase orders
  • Verifying taxes, matching documents, reconciling discrepancies, and preparing payment batches

Qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of relevant experience, or equivalent education/experience as specified
  • Organized, detail-oriented, with good communication skills and computer proficiency

Preferred qualifications include experience with AFRS, enterprise reporting, and a business-focused bachelors degree with accounting credits. Special requirements include completing specific accounting courses or obtaining credits within six months of hire.
